The ONE TO ONE Literacy program began in 1989 as a collaboration between the Vancouver School Board and the Junior League of Greater Vancouver. They provide tutors, free of charge, to work with children one-on-one to help develop literacy skills and reading confidence. They work in many schools throughout BC, Secord being one of them. Since the introduction of the ONE TO ONE program in 1989, they have helped more than 20,000 children improve their literacy skills.
Outside of the school environment, they offer helpful Parent Workshops, Parent Support drop in sessions and virtual tutoring. Check out their website to see what is on offer now.

On Thursday, June 11, our Spelling Bee Challenge will return in-person for the first time since 2019. Historically our most vital fundraising initiative, the Bee serves as the engine of our year-round programming.
Hosted at beautiful VanDusen Botanical Garden, this lunchtime event brings together some of the Lower Mainland’s most community-forward professionals—including top litigators and justices, portfolio managers, accountants, and tech teams—for some spirited but friendly, team-based competition for spelling supremacy. All in support of our children’s literacy programs across BC.
