Cross Country
Welcome back to a new school year! Cross Country season gets under way very soon with practices beginning Wednesday, September 11th, 8am at Trout Lake.

IMPORTANT DATES/INFO

Practice days are every Monday and Wednesday at 8am at Trout Lake (assemble east side by the dog park) except for holidays or persistent or heavy rain/wind. Cancellations will be posted by 7am to the Laura Secord Parent Facebook group page and relayed to the office as well. A cancellation message will be sent out to all families using MyEd. Use your discretion: if you think it's too wet to send your child, that's your call and it's fine. If a practice is on but the ground is muddy/wet and maybe it's even sprinkling or will start to during the practice...send your child with extra socks/clothes etc. First practice day is Wednesday, September 11th. Students go directly to Trout Lake, not the school. They will be walked back to the school by staff and parent coaches after practices.

Mini meet dates are Thursday, October 3rd, Thursday, October 10 and Thursday, October 17th. They take place after school at Trout Lake. Kids are walked to Trout Lake at 3:15pm and races begin around 3:45pm and finish around 4:45pm.

Final district meet is on Tuesday, October 22nd at Trout Lake, I don't have the start times yet, but it usually gets underway around 12:39pm and finishes around 3pm. I will update the exact times when I get the district information.

POLICY FOR PICKING UP YOUR KIDS AFTER MEETS

For all meets, including the district meet, teachers will be checking kids off and making sure they go with the correct person. Please let your child know to check out with teachers before leaving. However, if there are children who haven't been picked up at the end of the meet, and no one is around to pick them up, teachers will walk them back to the school office to wait with school administration and make a call home and they may remain at the school until picked up. You could also offer your children the option of walking back to school with teachers and then walking home by themselves from there.

Bottom line, the arrangement for your children will be whatever you as a parent/guardian communicate to them before each meet, and it is then the responsibility of each family to carry out their plan, whatever plan they have decided on.

Thanks for all your support and encouraging your kids to take part in cross country!
