CUBE CLUB

The school's Cube Club (for solving Rubik's cubes and such) is growing larger all the time. Diedre, the parent coordinator, could really use the help of 1 or 2 extra adults who would be willing to learn to solve the Rubik's Cube and then in turn help teach the kids. She's happy to teach and lend a cube to anyone who volunteers! It's hard to teach more than 2 or 3 kids at a time, and she's been consistently getting more like 8 kids per week asking, so many kids are walking away without learning to solve the cube. Of course, the club started out simply as an unstructured hangout and continues to function that way, but she still feels badly for the kids who are looking for more and she is just not able to provide the extra help without more volunteers.

The club meets on Thursday afternoons during lunch recess (12:10-1pm) in Mme. Octavia's room.

Cube Club News!

Would you like to buy your kid their own magnetic speed cube? Or maybe try out a pyraminx puzzle?

I have organized a group buy at a good price! I handed out the order form pictured here at Cube Club today. Order deadline is next Thursday Nov 30. Please see the handout for details and feel free to contact me with any questions!

We will continue to have loaner cubes for all kids to use at cube club (and feel free to let me know if you’d like to help fund the purchase of more), but we continue to have far more kids than cubes! For kids who really wish to get the hang of this hobby, it also makes a big difference if they can use a cube at home all week instead of just hoping for a turn at lunch once per week.
